Seer - Mobile Workforce Software
Seer makes use of the technology your mobile workers already have - their mobile phone - and utilises SMS messaging to pass information to a database. The database is accessed using a web browser to provide you with the real-time status of all your field staff.
Let's take a field service engineer as an example. When he starts traveling to his first job he sends a text message that is his 'start travelling to first job code' - this might be '01'. When he arrives at his first job he sends his 'I have arrived at a job code' - this could be '02'. When he leaves the job he sends his 'I have finished this job and am travelling to the next job code' - this might be '03'. And so on throughout the day.
Back at HQ the controller can see on his screen precisely where his field staff are and what they are doing.
If an emergency job occurs he can see who is best placed to take the job and can instruct them to attend by simply typing a message on his computer and clicking 'Send'.
The foregoing is a much simplified example of the sort of application we provide. More complex information can also be passed such as job numbers, job types and part numbers so that administrative tasks like completing time sheets and inventory control can be completely automated. Communication Costs
When two people talk on the phone they have an unfortunate habit of talking about all sorts of things not strictly related to the purpose of the call. A simple example might be a controller wanting to tell Pete Smith that his next job, Job 7421, has been cancelled. How much does this cost you at the moment? A call to a mobile phone, possibly a couple of minutes chatting and two employees time. It could cost you as much as a couple of pounds. Using Seer the controller would simply click on Pete Smith's name, type 'Job 7421 cancelled, go to Job 7436' and click a 'Send' button. All this costs is 30 seconds of the employees' time and the cost of a text message. It amounts to a tiny fraction of the alternative. Multiply this by the number of controllers and mobile workers you have and Seer can easily save you hundreds of pounds each week.
